CO2 Purifiers

PCO2 Series

The PCO2 range of carbon dioxide purifiers will remove harmful contaminants from CO 2 supplies used in the manufacture of carbonated drinks. These are namely: Water, Ethylene Glycol, Hydrocarbons, Olefinic Hydrocarbons, Ammonia, Benzene, Volatile Oxygenated Hydrocarbons, Volatile Sulphur compounds, Carbonyl Sulphide, Sulphur Dioxide, Hydrogen Sulphide, and other trace impurities.

Traditionally, a CO 2 line has been protected by passing the gas through an activated carbon filter prior to its use. Today's quality testing equipment is however highlighting that activated carbon alone cannot achieve the gas quality required.

The PCO2 cartridge incorporates a mix of adsorbents that effectively remove the above contamination. The addition of a particulate retention filter, providing protection down to 0.01 micron, completes a package that will ensure CO 2 conforms to the quality guidelines for carbon dioxide (published 1999) by the International Society for Beverage Technologists. PCO2 M-plus Range

During recent years, growing interest and concern has been shown by the beverage industry in the possible effects of poor quality Carbon Dioxide used in carbonation of the beverage. This has resulted in a greater focus being placed on the purity of the CO 2 used in the canning and bottling plants. Traditionally, beverage production plants have had little or no CO 2 purification installed, and in some instances a loose filled activated carbon vessel has been fitted.

The PCO 2 range of Carbon Dioxide Purifiers has been designed to incorporate five levels of purification, offering effective quality incident protection against a combination of potential contaminants.

Classed as a CO 2 vapour polisher, the PCO 2 systems will reduce trace contaminants such as Benzene, Hydrocarbons and Sulphur compounds that can cause product “off flavours” and lead to costly product spoilage.

All PCO 2 purifier systems are supplied complete with 1 micron inlet and outlet particulate filtration and will provide suitable protection to an entire production plant, a production line or an individual CO 2 line.
